For
the ELA standards, I looked at the Grade 3 Technology Standards. Out of the 6
total standards, the one that I feel most comfortable teaching is the LAF.3.SL.2.5.
This standard requires students to:
“Demonstrate
fluid reading at an understandable pace, adding visual displays and engaging
audio recordings when appropriate to emphasize or enhance certain facts or
details”
The
reason I feel the most comfortable with this is due to the technologies that it
suggests to use with the students. This is the only standard in which I understand
and know all the suggested tech. To feel more comfortable with all the other standards
for this grade, I need to expand my technology toolbox and become more familiar
with a wider range of technologies to use inside and out of the classroom.
Under
the different Grade sections, CPALMS divides into the different subject ranges
offering all the standards, lessons, student resources, and etc. for each. I
would use the standards list all the time for each subject. They make them easy
to find and readily available. It lists them in order and even tells you
exactly how many there are for that subject on your grade level’s home screen.
Through
working on the Newsletter Design assignment, I have become more used to word
and all its available tools. I have even found myself using word for all manner
of my academic needs at FSU. The requirements for the word assignment have had
me looking at my usual Pages program through Apple differently. It has taught
me to become familiar with ALL the programs on my laptop because
I never know when I will be needed to use any of the programs, Word or Macintosh
related.
Remember what we have discussed about the learning objectives in class? Instructor's mastery of the content does not always guarantee a good class. Teaching often involves with giving feedback, mentoring, and encouraging, which is out of the scope of how well does someone know the content. You may not know all the specific tech required, and neither do I. However, we are supposed to learn and develop the ability to teach others on these tech. This requires teachers to be fast learners and problem solvers, which is what EME2040 strives to prepare you guys to become.
