So, in the traditional classroom setting, the teacher will relay the information to the students and then they do their assigned homework outside of the classroom. The “flipped classroom” literally takes this structure and turns it on its head. In this classroom setting, the teacher will have recorded their lectures ahead of time and have it posted as an online source and the students will listen to these and record their own notes at home. Students then complete assignments while in the classroom and ask the teacher questions on the topics there as well.

OER is short for Open Educational Resources. These resources are journals or text books that universities have made available online for anyone to use. For example, FSU’s Intro to Educational Technology course decided to stop using a textbook and made all their sources available through canvas at no cost to the students. Educause offers a data base of different universities that offer OER. These universities range from the Community College Consortium to MIT.

I love the new skills that I have developed through the two PowerPoint assignments. I was the only student that presented their Assignment Four PowerPoint to the class and I was able to gain a lot of experience from Lukas’s feedback. I learned that I need to read directly from the slides less, not put complete sentences on the slides, and remember to start off a lesson with something engaging to keep the attention of the class from the start.

I learned how to design a jeopardy review game. I loved figuring out how to connect the slides through buttons and hyperlinks. It was also nice to get some hands-on experience with CPALMS and the standards system. I didn’t like how time consuming it was to create the slides and also how many of them there were to make. It became monotonous quite quickly with the duplicating process in order to get them to have the same design.
