So, in the traditional classroom setting, the teacher will relay the information to the students and then they do their assigned homework outside of the classroom. The “flipped classroom” literally takes this structure and turns it on its head. In this classroom setting, the teacher will have recorded their lectures ahead of time and have it posted as an online source and the students will listen to these and record their own notes at home. Students then complete assignments while in the classroom and ask the teacher questions on the topics there as well. OER is short for Open Educational Resources. These resources are journals or text books that universities have made available online for anyone to use. For example, FSU’s Intro to Educational Technology course decided to stop using a textbook and made all their sources available through canvas at no cost to the students.
