Blog Journal 5
Using Diigo has been eye opening. I never knew there was a
program like this out there to use. I am already integrating it into my other
classes because I have a lot of online material to read. One of my favorite
things about Diigo is the ability to annotate right on webpages and pdf files.
It makes writing notes for readings so much easier.
One of the things that I have really loved about blogging so
far has been the ability to put yourself out there for people to see, but in
the manner you want to be seen in. I have always been a shy person and have
never been to really express myself to people easily. Through blogging, I have
been able to express my teaching nature to the world and it has been
therapeutic. I never thought I would enjoy this before now. Learning how to
blog effectively, on a regular basis has been a change for me. Whenever I use
any form of social media, it tends to be sporadic and inconsistent day to day
and week to week. Being required to blog on a regular basis has been teaching
me consistency in other areas of my life as well. It has been helpful for
getting other assignments done in a scheduled manner.
After learning about web 2.0 in class and getting the chance
to research some programs online, I would be extremely interested in using Basecamp in an older elementary grade
classroom. This program is supposed to help students that are collaborating on
a project have a clear line of communication. It allows for the group to set a
list of what needs to get done, communicate, and create a schedule of what needs
to get done when for the project. Group members can even use the platform to
upload the different documents that they will need to use for the project. By introducing
this resource to children at a young age can prepare them to use this same tool
in the work force later on in life (it seems to be common amongst different corporations).
