Using Diigo has been eye opening. I never knew there was a program like this out there to use. I am already integrating it into my other classes because I have a lot of online material to read. One of my favorite things about Diigo is the ability to annotate right on webpages and pdf files. It makes writing notes for readings so much easier. One of the things that I have really loved about blogging so far has been the ability to put yourself out there for people to see, but in the manner you want to be seen in. I have always been a shy person and have never been to really express myself to people easily. Through blogging, I have been able to express my teaching nature to the world and it has been therapeutic. I never thought I would enjoy this before now. Learning how to blog effectively, on a regular basis has been a change for me. Whenever I use any form of social media, it tends to be sporadic and inconsistent day to day and week to week. Being required to blog...

ILP Design- Edmodo

Design_Edmodo https://voicethread.com/share/13086976/ So here it is guys: my first ILP of the semester! In my voice thread I go through how to set up an Edmodo account, classroom, and assignment. I also go through why teachers I have known in the past loved the program for their classrooms. For the students though, I remember it feeling like a facebook for the classroom. It was fun and easy to use and, quite frankly, I look forward to being able to use it in my own classroom in the future.

So far this semester I have been trying to keep a wide range of different educational sources available to myself through twitter. I follow many national educational pages as well as my fellow classmates in order to see their opinion on certain educational issues that are affecting our nation at the moment. I’ve found the use of twitter quite beneficial to exposing myself to important events and issues dealing with not only education, but the nation and world as a whole. I think I could see myself using Twitter to send announcements to parents and helping them stay informed as I have about important issues. When looking at the digital divide in classrooms, you can’t only look at if the student has access or not to the material. It is quintessential to ask if the students can actually use the material as well. I have been a part of the EDF 1005 course this year and I am participating in a mentorship program with the Ghazvini Institute and all the students’ courses ...

For the ELA standards, I looked at the Grade 3 Technology Standards. Out of the 6 total standards, the one that I feel most comfortable teaching is the LAF.3.SL.2.5. This standard requires students to: “Demonstrate fluid reading at an understandable pace, adding visual displays and engaging audio recordings when appropriate to emphasize or enhance certain facts or details” The reason I feel the most comfortable with this is due to the technologies that it suggests to use with the students. This is the only standard in which I understand and know all the suggested tech. To feel more comfortable with all the other standards for this grade, I need to expand my technology toolbox and become more familiar with a wider range of technologies to use inside and out of the classroom. Under the different Grade sections, CPALMS divides into the different subject ranges offering all the standards, lessons, student resources, and etc. for each. I would use the standards list a...
